children have been forced to drop out after class 8 at susta .

As there is no secondary school in the village, the children of Paschim Nawalparasi Susta have been forced to drop out after class 8. Surrounded by the Narayani river on three sides and the Indian border on one side, there is only one Dalit basic school in Susta. There is no bridge over the Narayani river to go elsewhere for further studies after class 8. Aranjeev Khan, Assistant Headmaster of Dalit Basic School, said that due to this, kindergarteners drop out after class 8.

Locals have demanded to upgrade the school for studying up to class 12 in Susta village, which is mostly inhabited by Dalits and poor people. There are currently 360 students up to Class 8 in Janata Dalit Basic School. According to Khan, only 5 percent of children go to different places after passing class eight due to geographical difficulty and poverty and continue their studies after class eight. Locals hope that if the bridge is constructed on Narayani river in time, it will be easier for teaching and learning.
