white butterfly has spread in rice cultivation in East Nawalparasi
The outbreak of white butterfly has spread in rice cultivation in East Nawalparasi. Farmers are worried after the disease has spread to the paddy at the time of threshing. The problem of yellowing and drying of the plant has appeared due to the attack of white worm in paddy. In Kawasoti, Madhyabindu, Vinayi Triveni, Devchuli and Gaidakot areas of the district, due to this problem, the farmers are facing the problem of reduced production. Especially in Savitri and hybrid varieties of rice, insect infestation is more common.
According to Meera Choudhary, an agronomist of Agricultural Knowledge Center Nawalpur, she said that the white butterfly has damaged the rice. Chowdhary suggested that after knowing that the disease has increased if urea fertilizer is used to make the paddy green without the advice of a technician, only inform the agricultural technician and apply medicinal and chemical fertilizers. Although the outbreak has increased, the government agencies do not have unified statistics about the area in which the disease has spread.
Farmers are asking the local level and agricultural knowledge center to find a solution to the disaster as soon as possible. This year, annual paddy has been planted in an area of 18,816 hectares in East Nawalparasi. Although it is estimated that 76 thousand nine hundred and 56 metric tons of rice will be produced, the production may decrease due to disease in rice, according to Krishi Gyan Kendra Nawalpur.
